The Milan Committee of the Società Dante Alighieri has premises in Via Napo Torriani 10, near the Central Station, which is an important node for transport in the city. The Central Station provides access to railways, Metro trains, surface public transport lines, and coach services to Linate, Malpensa and Orio al Serio airports. Its central position enables visitors to savour the dynamic and productive life of the city to the full. There are the streets in the top fashion district, such as Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga, and other equally lively but more commercially-oriented streets such as Corso Buenos Aires and Corso Vercelli. The city boasts many museums and art galleries, and its churches house many important works of art. Highlights include Leonardo da Vinci’s famous Last Supper, and the Pietà Rondanini by Michelangelo Buonarroti. There are all sorts of bars, restaurants and discotheques in attractive and evocative areas such as the Navigli canal district, and the Brera artists’ quarter. But Milan is above all capital of the Italian economy, and so it offers a wide range of business opportunities. It is the most important centre of finance in Italy, and it is one of the largest business centres in Europe, with its own stock exchange. Milan also leads the world in fashion and design. Milan is renowned for music, and above all for opera. The city can boast one of the most famous opera houses in the world, La Scala, and the Conservatorio, where international performers study music and singing at the highest levels. Milan has several important Universities, such as the State University, the Sacro Cuore Catholic University, the Free University of Language and Communications (IULM), the Technical University, and the “Luigi Bocconi” University, which trains top-level economists. |

The school, course enrolment and PLIDA certification |
|
In this important and multi-faceted context, our school has been teaching Italian language and culture to foreigners for over a century. Its wide range of courses is taught by highly-qualified teachers, in a friendly, dynamic and welcoming atmosphere. The costs of our courses are relatively low, because Società Dante Alighieri is a non-profit organization for moral improvement. The certificate of enrolment issued by the school may be useful in the process of obtaining a study visa. The Milan Committee is a Certification Centre, authorized to issue the official PLIDA diploma, attainable by passing the respective examination, in accordance with a convention with the Foreign Ministry. The diploma certifies skills in Italian as a foreign language according to the six-tier scale of reference established by the European Community framework agreement. It is a qualification that can be used as part of university admittance applications for students from abroad.] For further information, click here |
